AN INTERVIEW WITH PATTY

Who are my favourite contemporary artists? These artists probably don't qualify as contemporary since none of them are alive now, but they are all from the twentieth century and most of them were still on this planet when I arrived. The Group of 7 - Arthur Lismer in particular, Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Wassily Kandinski and Pablo Picasso.

My favourites from history? Van Gogh, Rembrandt and da Vinci. I feel a special connection to Leonardo as we share the dubious talent of being able to write backwards. :)

My favourite or most inspirational Painter Artist? Everyone is so talented here, but if I have to name names, I will give you two....Kathy Pilgrim and Giovanna. Their art speaks to my soul.

My favourite Painter Brushes? and Why? I can't name just one brush! I will name a category though...Jeremy's Faves 2. They beg to be played with!

What do I want the viewer to feel when they look at my art? I want the viewer to see and feel what they will. My art mostly is accidental and I can't explain it. It is what it is and that's determined through the imagination of the viewer.

Art and my Life

Tell us about how you became interested in Painter, if you painted before traditionally and a bit about your life and how Painter fits in it. I just wanted to design a label for a quilt I was making. I had PSP 5 at the time and I decided to see about upgrading. The upgrade came with an offer for a great deal on Painter Essentials and ...well you know what happened next!

I had no prior experience with painting. But looking at my huge collection of fabrics, my husband was sure there was an artist somewhere inside me trying to emerge. He would constantly bring me art books to try to spark my creativity. He's very supportive of my Painter habit..er journey and doesn't complain about the time I spend on the computer.

Ultimately I will take some of my images and translate them into art quilts, but for now, all I want to do is paint!
