HERE'S WHAT GEORGE HAS TO SAY Who are my favorite contemporary artists? Andrew Wyeth, Dalhart Windberg and Amodo Pena and a local artist Herb Booth. My favorites from history are Degas, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Michelangelo. My most inspirational Painter Artist is Jeremy Sutton. My favorite Painter Brushes are Digital Watercolors. Where do I want to go with my painting? I would like to become less focused on detail and more artistically expressive. *** Before retiring I was an engineer, and so my first experience was with pencils and pen and ink and mechanical drawing. At work we were starting to use a Sony floppy disk digital camera to capture process steps. The camera came with a PhotoImpact CD, which was my first experience with a computer graphics program. I started doing tutorials in PhotoImpact from Stephanie Baker Thomas. That is where I met Hillary. Next came Photoshop. Then I took a number of classes at LVS with Stephanie and Hillary and found out about Painter, and started taking Karen's classes. I use Photoshop to edit and improve on my digital photographs. Also I'm starting to use Adobe Illustrator as I am so impressed with the work of Bert Monroy, another indication of my fascination with realism in images. George Quimby |
